by COMMUNITYPUB.COM
Newark, Del. — Best Buddies Delaware has agreed to become the organizer and benefactor of the annual BlueGold All-Star Basketball Game.
The games, scheduled for March 20 at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware, showcase the top 60 senior boys and girls players as selected by the Delaware Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (DIBCA).
"This new partnership will help us to reach additional people with our Best Buddies mission and raise vital funds to help support our programs throughout Delaware," said Leslie Kosek, Best Buddies Delaware state director.
Activities around the event include a player and family banquet, held in Dover on the Tuesday night prior to the game, and a celebrity game between members of the Philadelphia Eagles and key sponsors.
Best Buddies' alignment with high school students makes it a perfect fit, said Brian Fahey, president of the DIBCA.
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships.
The game had been previously organized by Opportunity Center, Inc. |
